Bishop David Zubik disclosed at the recent Fall Clergy Convocation that he intends to make announcements regarding next steps in the On Mission for The Church Alive! planning process on Thursday, April 26, 2018. He will make the announcements at the Spring Clergy Convocation. The convocations bring together priests and deacons across the diocese for ongoing formation, spiritual growth and fraternal fellowship.
The April 26 announcements will begin the “transition phase” of On Mission. From May to September, outgoing and incoming clergy in new parish groupings will have opportunities to discuss how best to provide pastoral care. New Mass schedules will be developed during the summer and communicated to the faithful before the implementation phase begins on Monday, October 15, 2018.
On that date, the new clergy assignments and Mass schedules will take effect.
“Now that we have the dates for both the announcement of the bishop’s decisions and for the start date of the new parish groupings, we can focus on planning for delivery of support to the clergy teams and working out operational details that will serve the new groupings,” said Father Sam Esposito, episcopal vicar for On Mission.
On Mission for the Church Alive! seeks to invest in more intentional forms of outreach and evangelization so that our faith communities can be vital centers of worship and service, deepening people’s relationships with Christ and one another.
